Shaping the Future: Concrete Works for the Samford Steiner School
The expansion at Samford Steiner School.
At Bruce Smith Concreting, we take immense pride in helping build the educational spaces that support our local youth.
We were recently contracted by our trusted head building partners at Ashley Cooper Construction to deliver essential concrete packages for the major infrastructure upgrade at Samford Steiner School.
Laying the Groundwork for Creative Learning
The expansion at Samford Steiner School represents an exciting transformation. Backed by Australian Government Capital Grants alongside strategic school budgeting, this project lays the foundation for a two-stream learning model—designed to comfortably accommodate rising enrollments from Prep right through to Year 12.
As part of this growth, construction is delivering modern, multi-use flexible learning areas, administrative spaces, and key community hubs, including Wattle House and the impressive MADFLA (Music, Art, Drama, Film & Leadership Academy) building.
What Our Team Delivered
Working within an active school environment requires strict safety compliance, seamless site coordination, and clean execution. Our crew delivered key structural and external concrete elements across the site:
-
Poured and finished the heavy-duty concrete foundation slab for the brand-new Arts Building, ensuring a level, high-integrity base built for high foot traffic and creative equipment.
-
Prepped and poured extensive pedestrian footpaths linking the new facilities, connecting the main campus pathways directly to key hubs like Wattle House and the MADFLA facility.
-
Engineered smooth, disability-compliant transitions and strategic surface drainage along the walkway network to handle peak school-hour traffic and heavy rain events.
Built for Safety, Accessibility, and Longevity
Pedestrian pathways in educational settings need to offer more than just a smooth surface; they require non-slip textures, long-term durability, and seamless connectivity between existing and new structures.
Durable Footpath Network: Sweeping concrete paths allow hundreds of students, teachers, and parents to navigate safely between classrooms every day.
Non-Slip Commercial Finishes: Applied tailored broom finishes to guarantee solid underfoot traction, keeping pathways safe in wet weather.
Builder Collaboration: Working closely alongside Ashley Cooper Construction, our team ensured all pours aligned perfectly with the master builder's site schedules.
"Educational builds are always special to work on. Knowing that the slabs and footpaths we pour today will support thousands of local students through their school journey for decades to come makes all the hard work worth it."
- Ky Richardson, Project Manager
